Understand the medicine
How does weight care differ from other peptide care?
Ask about the specific medicine and the assessment. A general peptide label does not answer either question.
Are there approved medicines in this area?
Approval review at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) focuses on particular uses of each medicine.
As of September 2026, FDA records show semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Zepbound) products approved for weight management.
Weight management means care aimed at weight reduction and keeping the reduction over time. Ask what the medicine is called and how it is taken: by tablet, shot, or another method.
What does Florida ask of the assessment?
As of September 2026, Florida’s weight-drug rule calls for an initial evaluation with a physical assessment, full history, and tests related to weight care.
The rule also requires written informed consent and re-evaluation at least every three months.
Informed consent is your agreement to care after hearing an explanation of it. Ask how the assessment, consent, and follow-up are arranged.
The Florida rule allows remote visits and does not state that the evaluation must be in person.
Can I treat every advertised weight product as the same?
Retatrutide and cagrilintide are drug ingredient names. As of September 2026, FDA guidance says neither is in an approved medicine or proven safe and effective for any condition. Using either ingredient in made-to-order medicine is forbidden by federal law.
Ask about the exact ingredient whenever an offer names either of these drugs. Made-to-order medicine is also called compounded.
